Lifting protection Print E-mail

In order to carry out safe lifting procedures, many applications require additional protection between the load and sling.  To protect the sling from abrasive damage, webbing sleeves are strongly recommended.

Sleeves are available in any lengths and can be placed along the sling to suit the application.  Alternatively webbing pads can be sewn to the sling surface at fixed points.

To protect the sling from sharp edges we recommend the use of polyurethane sleeves.  The polyurethane is moulded onto a separate polyester sleeve to give high resistance to cutting and abrasion.  Polyurethane sleeves are manufactured for single or double sided protection.

Pre-use checks

All products should be regularly inspected during use.  These checks should be extended to both webbing and fittings.  If any doubt exists as to fitness for use, the product should be removed from services for examination by a competent person.

Polyurethane coating

Polyurethane coating is the ultimate in lifting protection.  It is available in many forms and designed to suit the handling of sheet or coiled steel, concrete, plate glass and other similar hazardous products.

Chemical environments

Extreme care should be taken when using lifting products in a chemical environment.  Alternative materials can be used in cases where polyester is not safely acceptable, and Trans-Web would be pleased to advise on safe handling within all normal and hazardous working environments.
